BOTTLER.

Tim Smith was the first to market with the new Eden Valley proprietary bottle, using it for his 2011 Eden Valley Riesling, which retails at $25 a bottle.

Tim has always had a close connection to Eden Valley Riesling. In his early days as assistant winemaker at Yalumba he saw the making of Pewsey Vale and Heggies Rieslings, and later he made Riesling for small Eden Valley producers from the great 2005 vintage. Tim also introduced a single vineyard Riesling into the Chateau Tanunda portfolio with success.

With Viognier being the only white wine in the Tim Smith portfolio to date, Tim knew the ideal complimentary stablemate was Riesling. "Given that the Barossa is my home and Eden Valley is synonymous with Riesling here and abroad, there was a compelling proposition to make this wine," says Tim.

The fruit comes from a single low-yeilding vineyard planted in 1922 and is 450 metres above sea level.

The proprietary bottle has been adopted by Eden Valley Wine producers to give Riesling a point of difference.
